Best Bad X Factor UK Auditions

As we enter into our twelfth year of The X Factor UK (yeah, we can’t believe it either!), auditions are underway to find a new star with a familiar judge line up. We thought it would be fun to have a look at some of the best of the worst X Factor auditions.

There have been many over the years. Ones that have made us cringe into our Chinese takeaways. Ones that have had us shouting at our TVs. Then have us cheering when the big security man escorts the wannabe pop stars out of the judge’s way.

We have chosen just a mere selection of bad auditions so forgive us if we miss your favourite!

Fiesty and ambitious Rachel

Back in 2007, confident Rachel Lester didn’t like the judge’s reactions after auditioning, with Simon Cowell telling her “you’ve got a really bad attitude, sweetheart”. Rachel’s potty mouth appeared after Simon’s comment, with a tirade of swear words directed at the judges, telling Simon “Why did I come here? Because I know I’m f*cking good”. Oh dear. The security team stepped in and escorted Rachel out of the audition room. Gah. X Factor wouldn’t be what it is without a bit of drama.

The big punch up

Cast your mind back to 2010. We were welcoming One Direction into our lives but we also had the cough utter joy of meeting AbLisa at the audition stages. From arguing with the audience, singing an interesting version of Shayne Ward’s That’s My Goal, to asking guest judge Natalie Imbruglia who she was – it wasn’t going well for duo AbLisa. It went further downhill when Abby decided to punch Lisa in the face on stage. Yep. Nobody was hurt so we can still laugh, right? Surprisingly, the duo didn’t make it to the next round.

Sophie fails to impress

With lots of encouragement from her mother, Sophie auditioned for the X Factor back in 2012. To put it lightly, it didn’t make quite the impression on the judges as they hoped. It left Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh open mouthed. For the wrong reasons. Bless Sophie though, she put all her effort in. You’ve got to give her that.

Ant and his backing singer

Welsh duo Ant and Seb graced our screens in 2008. Their rendition of Peter Andre’s Mysterious Girl sent the judge’s into a fit of giggles. You see, Seb acted as backing singer, adding in rapper Bubbler Ranx’s vocals in, who featured on the original song. So while Ant’s vocals weren’t bad, it was his companion who made these two so memorable. Also, when they refused to leave until Ant got through to the next round. This then prompted another visit from the security man and they were escorted from the audition room.

Sharon and the door

We thought we’d finish with a laugh out loud moment from 2007 when best pals Louis Walsh and Sharon Osborne had to infamously leave the room due to laughing so much at one contestant.

Louis made a slightly mean comment about not being able to imagine contestant Dawn as a jockey and he and Sharon couldn’t control their laughter. Simon sent his fellow judges out like naughty school children and Sharon was laughing so much that she managed to walked into a door. Poor Dawn didn’t even get to audition properly. Not that she was the best. She had to look up the lyrics and didn’t have quite the Leona Lewis-esque voice. Bless her.
