A man remains on the run after a marked police car with two officers inside was rammed by a stolen ute.
When the officers attempted to restrain the driver of the ute they were allegedly set upon by a group of people leading them to be hospitalised.
The incident happened on Monday night in Collingwood Park, a suburb of Ipswich in Brisbane’s west.
Police have said about 7.50pm two officers, a male and a female were sat in a car on Kerry O’Brien Street waiting for a tow truck to collect a stolen vehicle.
“Officers observed a stolen white ute driving on the street and it accelerated suddenly and drove toward the police car and crashed into it head on,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“Both officers were able to get out of the car and attempted to restrain the driver of the ute, but it will be alleged that a number of people from a nearby house then ran at police and assaulted and obstructed them until further crews arrived.”
Further police arrived at the scene and took five people into custody but couldn't find the driver of the ute.
The two Senior Constables in the car were taken to hospital for arm injuries and have since been discharged.
The police vehicle and the stolen ute both suffered serious damage.
Police say they want to track down the ute driver and have asked anyone that has seen him to get in touch.
He is described as Pacific Islander in appearance and had a solid build.
A 16-year old boy, a 16-year-old girl, a 19-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, all from Collingwood Park, have all been charged with one count of obstruct police.
The man is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on May 15.
A 20-year-old Redbank Plains woman has been charged with one count of serious assault police and is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on the May 15.
