Roma legend Francesco Totti has revealed his marriage almost ended because of a hairless cat.
Totti was stunned when his wife, Ilary Blasi, brought the animal into their home.
The former Italy striker admitted the cat ‘almost caused us to break up’, before eventually falling in love with it.
Totti, who married Ilary in a televised wedding in 2005, told former teammate Christian Vieri in an Instagram Live Story: “I was furious with my wife, she bought a hairless cat and called it Donna Paola.
“It's boiling. At night, it insists on sleeping inside our bed, next to our legs. She's a very affectionate cat, but almost caused us to break up.
“Ilary wanted a cat at all costs and I was adamant we shouldn't. One day, she brought it home, because ultimately she makes all the decisions in this family.
“We didn't speak for days, but in the end, I fell in love with the cat too.”
Totti spent his entire career at Roma, scoring 307 goals in 785 appearances for the Serie A giants before retiring in 2017.
He also made 58 appearances for Italy and helped his country win the 2006 World Cup.
Despite being a club legend, Totti refuses to visit Roma’s training ground, even when his son Cristian plays for the Under-15s, while James Pallotta is president.
He said: ”Look, as long as the situation is like this, I will not set foot in Trigoria.
"Every time I drop Cristian off for training, I stay outside the gate. Sometimes I sit in the car and feel like crying to think that after 30 years, I can't even set foot in there now.
"I left and that's that. I still have great friends and they come outside the gate to say hello.
"Every now and then, my son asks me to come in to watch him play, but I can't do it. That would kill me."
